To prevent problems arising when considering having Air Conditioning installed, it is imperative that the size / output of the unit is sufficient. To determine the required size certain criteria’s are taken into consideration:
• Size of the room (floor area)
• Ceiling height
• Insulation material (if any) used
• Wall construction of the building (e.g. brick, weatherboard, timber, etc)
• Roof type
• Orientation and shading of windows
As a rough quick guide to calculate the size of your air conditioner, allow 1.5kw for every 10m2 of floor area. For example, a 40m2 floor area requires 6kW cooling capacity.
